The Class
Each class is designed to nurture and develop self-confidence and the essential feminine through movement. The environment and approach is empowering, playful, supportive, invigorating, and most of all fun!
Description of a typical class
- Each class begins with a “sacred circle,” which is an opportunity to connect and share. This is also a time when I reinforce some of the philosophy behind FIT for a Goddess and the style of movement that is used to liberate the divine feminine. For instance, one of the beauties of this approach is you can’t do it “wrong.” Although there are fundamental movements demonstrated, each woman is encouraged to respond to her own unique internal rhythm and personally interpret how they express it. Therefore, no previous dance experience is necessary and the expression of the movements is highly individualized and personal.
- Next we do a lusciously sensual warm-up that includes stretching, “wall work,” and floor work; all of which involve movements that are later incorporated into a routine.
- We then work on the standing movements that are initiated primarily from the “epicenter” of feminine energy, the hips or pelvis. The circular and fluid movement of the entire body, as it freely follows the hips, seems to be the key that unlocks the powerful transformational experiences that women describe. These movements are referred to as “sacred circles” also. As we create these flowing circles, there can be a sense of joining and/or stirring up the “cosmic soup” from which the essential life force emanates…powerful and empowering!
- We gradually introduce working with the pole, which is the real cardio portion of the class, involving the most strength and stamina. If you ever dreamt of flying, here’s your chance and don’t forget the “fringe benefits of flying” mentioned above!
- We finish by putting it all together in a routine that will be built as the class series progresses. The routine is a combination of using the strength, flexibility, and fluidity acquired through the luxuriously slow and sensuous movements. The “peeling” that is incorporated into the routine can be literal or symbolic. Either way, this process promises to “peel away” layers of negative programming and conditioning. The routine tends to be a “cool down” in and of itself while being profoundly provocative and invigorating at the same time.
Many women never dance for a lover but hold their learning as a very personal journey that positively impacts how they now move through their world in general. Some women only feel comfortable sharing their experiences with trusted girlfriends and others who have joined the growing “sacred circle” of women how seek to be more fully feminine. Those who do share their dance of the divine with an intimate partner; say it feels like a very personal gift that tends to take the relationship to a new and deeper level. But more importantly, tapping into and expressing ones essential feminine greatly enhances a woman’s relationship with herself, therefore, enriching all her relationships.
